Motion no: 3
This BDC notes the continuing chaos in the NHS, causing pain, suffering and distress to those reliant on its services and calls for the values of Britain’s ‘Bevan Welfare State’ to be reasserted with the principles of care being free at the point of delivery paid for by progressive taxation and accountable to the people.
Conference also calls for decent pay for workers at all levels, collective bargaining to be available whether in private or public providers and for there to be no further outsourcing and for that already in place to be phased out.
There also needs to be an ongoing programme set up to train more doctors and nurses with sufficient funding and incentives to encourage young people to come into the service.
Conference calls on the NIC to promote these ideals within the ‘Better Work Better Lives’ campaign.
