Motion no: 17
Conference condemns the attempt by Civil Service Management to attack the longstanding secondment arrangements which have been in place for many years on two of NIPSA’s high profile activists.
This runs alongside the attempts to or stop the facility time of representatives who are working on behalf of members to protect their interests and defend them during absence management reviews, grievances and disciplinary procedures.
In addition Management Side has threatened to reduce Conference facility time and time off for collective bargaining purposes. This is at a time of unprecedented cuts to public services and transformation projects which required detailed consultation and negotiation arrangements with the lay structures and members.
NIPSA has welcomed the support of NIC ICTU and affiliates who have supported the calls for protest, action, engagement and letter writing.
Conference, the campaign goes on. We rely on the strength of the trade union movement to defeat these draconian attacks because if they get away with the attacks on the largest trade union in Northern Ireland – then they will come for the rest.
Conference, please continue to actively support NIPSA’s campaign through active engagement because we can only ensure Better Work Better Lives for all through strong, effective representation by experienced and committed activists.
