According to the september issue of Health & Safety Review, nearly 13,000 Covid-19 inspections were carried out between May 18th to the week ending August 24th, while Department of Health figures show an alarming increase in workplace clusters in the last week.
The figures for Covid-19 inspections from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment show that 12,863 Covid-19 inspections were carried out up to Friday August 24th, the latest date for which figures are available. Of these 12,863 inspections, 3,106 were carried out by the HSA. Up to the week ending August 7th, the Authority had carried out 2,844.
In addition to Covid-19 inspections, the Authority's inspectors have been carrying out their normal planned inspections. During the period since May 18th up to August 24th, the Authority carried out 4,243 inspections, which means they carried out 1,137 of what might be called "normal" workplace inspections.
