The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has called on affiliated unions in the Cork region to back a rally in support of the Vita Cortex workers scheduled for Saturday, February 11.
The rally in Cork has been organised by the Cork Council of Trade Unions and will commence at 2pm, from Connolly Hall.
The Congress call comes as the 32 Vita Cortex workers enter the 55th day of the campaign to secure their agreed redundancy payments, following management's failure to meet commitments it had given to the workers, before the plant closed.
Congress had previously pledged its full support for the campaign. It has also captured international attention, with figures such as former President Mary Robinson and US activist Noam Chomsky also backing the Vita Cortex workers.
