Congress General Secretary Patricia King has informed the Minister for Public Expenditure & Reform, Paschal Donohoe, that the trade union movement was ready to play its part in fashioning a coherent, clear and fair response to problems currently facing Irish society.
The Executive Council of Congress met April 27 with Minister Donohoe to discuss matters of mutual concern, including: Brexit; Housing; Public Service Pay; Social Dialogue; Pensions and Low Pay.
The Minister outlined his views on key issues to members of the Executive Council, stressing the importance of a "collective approach" to the resolution of wider social and economic problems.
General Secretary Patricia King thanked Minister Donohoe for meeting with Congress and highlighted the "compelling case" for government, unions and employers to discuss and agree a response to Brexit and other issues of concern.
