The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has welcomed the formation of the Loyalist Community Council (LCC), and its acceptance of the democratically expressed will of the People of Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the Northern Ireland Committee of Congress, Assistant General Secretary Peter Bunting said:
"We welcome the fact that the LCC have rejected all violence and criminality, and we welcome the announcement that it is their desire to work in their communities with the objective of eliminating social and economic difficulties which impact on working class people.
"Congress will, wherever possible, assist in the endeavour."
