The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has welcomed the publication of the review of Joint Labour Committees (JLCs), but said the lack of detail on how the JLC system would operate in future was a "major cause for concern."
Congress Legal Affairs Officer Esther Lynch said: 'the publication of this long-awaited review by the Minister for Jobs, Innovation & Enterprise, Richard Bruton, is to be welcomed, but an issue of immediate concern to us is the absence of any detail on how the new JLC system will operate
"Each of the JLCs will require a Ministerial Order before it can be set up and the Orders would set out the detail of how it will operate and what the scope of each would be.
"In that respect, the failure to publish the Orders along with the review is particularly disappointing. In that context, Congress will be seeking an early meeting with Minister Bruton to clarify the many outstanding details around this issue," Ms Lynch concluded.
