Congress recently joined with the ETUC in seeking to ensure that the European Commission adopt a new EU Strategy on equality between women and men as a communication and not as a staff working document as previously announced.
The action was successful with the EPSCO Council adopting conclusions calling on the EC to adopt the Strategy as a communication. See para 35: INVITES THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION to:
"Adopt, as a Communication, a new Strategy for gender equality after 2015, which should be closely linked to the Europe 2020 Strategy and which should also take into account the United Nations Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development".
