The General Secretary of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions - David Begg - today (September 17) informed the Congress ExecutIve Council of his intention to retire in March 2015.
Mr Begg said he expected the Executive Council would authorise the General Purposes' Committee - the officer board of Congress - to initiate the process for selecting his replacement.
In July 2013, Mr Begg informed delegates at Biennial Delegate Conference ((BDC) in Belfast that the gathering would be his last as General Secretary. The next BDC is scheduled for July 2015,
Mr Begg has appointed to the post of General Secretary in 2001.
