In the wake of the attacks in Parnell Square a fortnight ago and the riots that followed there have been as you know many important conversations and efforts across the community sector and trade union movement to reclaim the narrative, reject polarising responses that pitch communities against each other, and work in solidarity with people directly impacted by organised hate.
This is a simple call to action emerging from conversations with organisers, activists, community artists, people impacted by hate and extremism and those living and working in and around Parnell Square. The support of the trade union and action by workers can help make this happen.
Many of us want to show love for those injured and their families, and solidarity with first responders and the schools and communities around Parnell square who are hurting right now. There is a determination that together we can be louder and stronger than a small number of people who brought hate and incited violence.
Together we will create a giant message, made up of thousands of our photos and images from across Ireland, that will hang off a building(s) in Parnell Square.
Call to action here
We would appreciate if your union could get a call to action out to members and workers today. 500 photos are needed by early next week. A simple photo or image created with co-worker's, colleagues, friends, neighbours in the workplace, in the community can be uploaded here creating creating a beautiful mosaic and message for Parnell Square.
Funds to get banner(s) printed are need and donations are being asked from organisations to help get this over the line.
Together we can show that we are greater than fear, and that love is indeed louder than hate. We know it is love and community and minding each other that will keep us safe.
