It is with the deepest sympathy and regret that I notify you of the very sudden passing of our dear friend and colleague Eileen (Sweeney).
Our thoughts are with her beloved husband Tom, her sisters and brothers and family.
The Trade Union movement has lost one of its greatest soldiers. Congress has lost a great friend and colleague. Our Executive Council has lost an extraordinary administrator who will be greatly missed by us all.
Since my appointment I have appreciated Eileen's loyalty and friendship. I know her loss will be especially felt by my predecessor David Begg and all colleagues past and present.
May she rest in peace RIP.
