Congress welcomes todays publication of Ireland’s National Action Plan Against Racism 2023-2027 and the €1 million in funding to be made available for Anti-Racism initiatives.
Congress General Secretary, Owen Reidy, commended the work of the independent Anti-Racism Committee who drafted the plan and acknowledged the contribution of former Congress General Secretary, Patricia King.
Congress Equality Officer, David Joyce, welcomed the employment initiatives outlined in the plan and stated that Congress was ready to play its part in these actions to ensure that inequality of outcomes for people experiencing racism in employment are addressed.
We also look forward to cooperating with the soon to be appointed independent Special Rapporteur on Racial Equality and Racism who will monitor implementation of the plan.
