The Irish Congress of Trade Unions is delighted and honoured to announce that President Michael D Higgins is to be a guest speaker at the forthcoming Congress Women's Committee Conference, which takes place in Belfast on Friday, March 2.
This will be President Higgins' first visit to Belfast since his election and he will make the closing address to the conference.
Congress General Secretary David Begg said it will be an honour to have President Higgins address delegates at the conference.
The biennial conference of the Congress Women's Committee brings together over 200 delegates from more than 40 trade unions across the island of Ireland. It commences at 11am on Thursday March 1.
Women now constitute the majority of trade union members in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The two-day conference will hear a range of motions, all affecting the working lives of women in the public and private sectors.
