Workplace Ventilation Bill

November 29, 2021
young workers

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Congress has been calling for improved measures to ensure that workplaces are safe and that workers are protected.

In this regard, we have repeatedly argued that enhanced regulation is required to ensure the proper and adequate ventilation of all workplaces.

The Workplace Ventilation Bill 2021 proposes to give all workers the right to sufficient fresh air in enclosed places of work and provides that workers can seek to have their workplace inspected by the Health and Safety Authority. The legislation further provides that the Health and Safety Authority can issue Improvement Notices where high levels of CO2 are detected.

Congress believes that this Bill if enacted would provide greater levels of protection for workers and call on all Oireachtas members to support this legislation.
